The Way She Wears It – Mari Weymouth

The Way She Wears It

Personal Branding Style Notes from the Session of Dr. Mari Weymouth

Because sometimes, confidence isn’t just worn—it’s felt. And when it fits, it shows.

I couldn’t help but wonder…
What happens when the outfit fits just right—not just on your body, but on your story?
When the blazer hugs your ambition, the earrings echo your ease, and every little detail says, I know who I am?

In personal branding, clothing isn’t just a style choice—it’s a message.
And in Mari Weymouth’s session, every piece she wore whispered one thing:
This is me. And it fits.

The Look

For this shoot, we pulled together pieces from Mari’s existing wardrobe. She’s been updating her closet with intention—adding bold colors and structured shapes that mirror her clarity and confidence.

She wore a tailored orange blazer by Cinq à Sept, paired with a fitted ivory tank from LOFT and a pair of ivory wide-leg Ann Taylor petite trousers with no front zipper or belt loops—just a smooth, flattering silhouette. A minimal gold belt, clear-strapped heels, and diamond-studded gold hoops pulled it all together.

Her makeup, done by the talented Dora Vera (@_thefoundationofmakeup), brought a soft, coral glow to her lips and a polish to the whole look. And her hair? A perfect blowout with just enough volume and movement to say: I’ve arrived.

Dr. Mari Weymouth arrived for her San Antonio Business Journal feature shoot already styled, glammed, and glowing. While I wasn’t the photographer for that session, I knew she had the trifecta: fresh hair and makeup, a perfectly styled outfit, and that subtle kind of confidence that comes from feeling really pulled together.

And in my world? That’s not a moment you waste.
If you’re already camera-ready, why not capture it?

So I invited her to swing by the studio after her shoot. Just a few minutes, a few frames—and suddenly, she had something more: new images for her personal branding library that felt elevated, intentional, and entirely her.

The Personal Part of Personal Branding

Mari and I have worked together before, so I’ve seen her evolve from a woman who wore a lot of black—beautiful, classic black—to one who now plays with color, strength, and vibrancy in her wardrobe.

Because I knew Mari, I could help her pull pieces that weren’t just flattering—they were expressive. Pieces that said something about the kind of leader she is: clear, warm, and unapologetically grounded.

I’m not a professional stylist.
But I did grow up flipping through enough back issues of Vogue to develop a deep appreciation for a well-placed blazer and the quiet power of a good outfit. Somewhere between page 32 and the perfume samples, I must’ve picked up a sixth sense for knowing what wants to be photographed.

Because really—
What if styling isn’t just about fashion… but about feeling?

With my clients, wardrobe is always a conversation. Sometimes we’re working with what they already own. Sometimes we’re imagining what could be—with a little guidance or a future shopping trip. And if someone really wants help building out their wardrobe in a meaningful, long-term way, I’ll often recommend a professional stylist.

After all, the pieces you wear for networking events or speaking engagements might be perfect for the stage—but not always for the studio. My role is to help you spot the pieces that feel like you and also tell the visual story you want your brand to tell.

Every now and then, I can look at someone’s wardrobe—or at least what they bring into the studio—and spot exactly what needs to be in front of the lens.
And I’ve seen how a person’s whole energy shifts when they’re wearing something that truly feels aligned with who they are.

Mari is a personal friend, and our comfort and creative rhythm comes from trust and time. What we did together isn’t typical for every client. But the process we followed—styling with intention and vision—is always part of the story.

A Lookbook for Inspiration

Because so many of my clients ask what to wear for their sessions, I’ve created a lookbook featuring Mari’s wardrobe pieces from this shoot—just to spark ideas.

And honestly, there’s no one-size-fits-all.
Sometimes it’s a conversation we have together. Sometimes it’s with a stylist. But I thought this might offer a little inspiration—or even a place to start.

And it got me thinking—not just about clothes, but about confidence, and the quiet ways we hold ourselves back.

When wardrobe feels unclear, it can create resistance.
You delay booking.
You second-guess your choices.
You hold back from showing up fully—not just for the camera, but for yourself.

But when you see what’s possible—and how beautiful you can feel in what you already own—everything shifts.
You begin to move with clarity and ease.

This is more than just a photo.
It’s about showing up for your brand—and yourself—with intention.
Everyone’s journey to the camera looks a little different. My job is to meet you right where you are and make it feel easy.
